Jeff usually slept very well. But he could not sleep that night. There were too many thoughts on his mind.

Was he sharing a room with a cold-blooded murderer?

He did not hear any sounds from the other side. Lawrence was asleep.

He wondered about using this opportunity to search through Lawrence's stuff to find the poison.

Jeff sighed. It would be difficult in the dark.

And besides, as annoying as Lawrence was, he did not look like a murderer. At least, not a well-calculated type.

If Lawrence killed, he would do it dramatically, with pomp and lots of yelling.

Would Carl be the culprit? Brandon was right about Carl gaining the most from Andy's death. Andy could have been treating Carl poorly before Carl's recent success. If Carl was unscrupulous to steal Hans's role, could he had killed Andy? The timing worked nicely, removing the obstacle just when he was getting noticed.

And there was Hans. Jeff wondered how to face him. Strangely, Jeff felt vulnerability and yearning simultaneously.

"Jeff," a low voice called out his name and disrupted his thoughts.

Jeff froze. He did not respond as he recognized Lawrence's voice.

"Jeff," the voice went again.

Jeff opened his eyes. He had pulled the curtains around his bed, and Lawrence could not see his face. Jeff clenched his fist, getting ready to spring up and deliver a blow if Lawrence attacked him.

Soon, he heard footsteps. Lawrence had gotten down from his bed.

Jeff focused, his heart pounding fast.

But his fear proved unnecessary. The footsteps became softer, and the door opened. Lawrence had left the room.
